Reitmeier is more than a company, we’re a community. And that community extends beyond the walls of our headquarters. We’re committed to bringing balance, support, and sustainability to the entire Portland community!
That’s why last year, the Reitmeier team began donating our services to Rose Haven, a non-profit intervention center for women and children experiencing the trauma of abuse and homelessness in Portland.
The Rose Haven facility is home to a number of essential community services, including on-site counseling and referral services to help its clients obtain housing, medical care, and legal services. The organization also offers guest a safe haven from the street with free clothing, hygiene products, and diapers. Guests can take classes in writing, math, creative arts, and health education at no cost.
Resources for Rose Haven
In support of this amazing organization, our technicians visit Rose Haven regularly to help maintain their HVAC equipment and replace worn parts. We also make ourselves available for repairs whenever they experience problems with their heating and cooling system.
“We’ve been a designated heating and cooling shelter for the City for a number of years,” said Katie O’Brien, Development Officer at Rose Haven, “but we were boiling hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. We finally decided to put in an updated system and found some financial support to have Reitmeier come in and install a new HVAC. And that was how our relationship started.”
“We love what Rose Haven does for our community,” Reitmeier President Jeff Nusz said. “They are really able to turn a few gifts into a tremendous amount of help for a lot of people who are in need.”
Reitmeier participated in Rose Haven’s 189 Campaign last year, donating money to help support the 2,000 women and children who are served by the organization each year. And in December, our team put up a special Christmas giving tree in the Reitmeier lobby to spread awareness about Rose Haven’s Christmas Gift Drive.
“We also put up a paper tree in our Dispatch area and decorated it with paper ornaments,” said Robyn Benedetti, Manager of Operations at Reitmeier. “Each ornament had a gift listed on it for our employees to donate, and place under the tree. Our team really made a great push to give to the clients of Rose Haven.”
Just before Christmas, the unwrapped gifts were delivered including diapers, toys, sleeping bags, and coats over to Rose Haven for the women and children who were visiting their facility. The Christmas Gift Drive was such a big hit, we’ve decided to do something similar for Easter with a nice dinner and a basket celebration for the clients of Rose Haven.
“It’s been a great relationship,” said Katie. “Reitmeier’s contributions are such a huge help, and it’s so impactful for us to work with companies who are using their base to support our work.”
Supporting Portland
In everything we do, Reitmeier strives to be a steward in our community. And we’re incredibly proud to close out 2013 with this contribution to Portland’s less fortunate women and children, with the powerful support shared by our entire team.
We’d like to take a moment to recognize all of our team members who have contributed to this meaningful cause. Your generous spirit is making our local community a better place for women and children in need, and we’re so proud to know that you’re a committed member of the Reitmeier family. Thank you! And here’s to an amazing 2014!
